More detailed transaction fields
It would be great to add more detailed fields to transactions, similar to how this is handled in Firefly III, in addition to the existing general notes field.
For example:
Attachments — Allow users to attach documents such as train tickets, boarding passes, invoices, receipts, or other relevant files to a transaction.
GPS location — Store the location where a transaction took place. This could be especially useful when shopping at different branches of the same grocery or retail chain.
External URL — Add a link to an external page related to the transaction, such as an e-shop order page, booking confirmation, or marketplace listing.
External references — Allow users to store an external order number, invoice number, booking reference, or another identifier associated with the transaction.
These fields would make transactions much more useful as a complete record of a purchase, while keeping the existing general notes field for free-form information.

@Iaccarino Giosuè I’ve moved attachments to a separate ticket https://moneymatter.featurebase.app/p/attachments-to-transactions, please vote for it separately if you need it, so I can later prioritize it accordingly

Makes sense, thanks for the request!
I’m not familiar with how Firefly III handles the GPS location field – it’s just a manual entry? Bank connections usually don’t send this info, this info almost never comes from the data sources (CSV, PDF, etc), and I don’t expect users will ever fill this manually. As I understand you do use this field – can you please shed some light on how you usually fill it?
Regarding Attachments – the app is free, at least at this moment, and storing data is costly, so honestly I cannot promise this feature at all. It will be added for self-hosters tho, and will probably become available on cloud after a subscription is introduced, for which I don't really have plans atm.

Hi, thanks for the interest.
You are correct that the GPS data is primarily entered by the user, either automatically by their client when creating the transaction or manually. The Firefly developers don’t expect the average user to enter it either. In fact, it is hidden by default along with other optional fields and can be toggled on a per-user basis, so it doesn’t clutter the UI when it isn’t needed.
I usually enter each transaction as soon as I make the purchase, so the location is already accurate based on my phone’s GPS, otherwise I edit it manually when organising the transactions afterwards.
Regarding attachments, I completely understand your position and don’t expect the option to be available - at least for now - on the public cloud instance. I wouldn’t mind having to enable it through an environment variable for the self-hosted option.
