Financial Goals

Feature Request

Please add a Financial Goals section where we can plan and track both short term and long term goals, such as buying a car, saving for a flat down payment, taking a foreign vacation, etc.

Each goal could have a target amount (either a fixed amount or a percentage of one or more accounts), a target date and progress tracking so we can see how close we are to achieving the goal.

    If a goal has already been completed such as an emergency fund goal, shouldn't it still be shown in the widget? We could display it as completed or add an option to view completed goals. If the goal is archived then we can hide it in widget or from goal section.

    The goal should not require users to manually transfer money to a virtual account. Instead, it could be a calculation layer on top of existing accounts.

    For example, a goal could be linked to:

    • 100% of Account A

    • 100% of Account B

    • 25% of Account C

    The goal value should update automatically as account balances change. The goal should also consider the user's budget/cash flow to determine whether the target is achievable.

    The What-if feature could also allow users to change the monthly saving amount, target date or account allocation and see how it affects the expected completion date.

    No actual money transfer is required; the goal only tracks the allocation of existing assets and future saving capacity.

      Just FYI right now I'm focused on YNAB-style budgeting – you budget categories with budget lines, and each line can get a goal: recurring (e.g. $200 every month), by a target date (save $5k by June), or a target balance with no date. No money moves there either – you just assign the money you already have, so it's a way to move toward a goal through the budget.


      What you describe – linking a goal to a % of existing accounts, auto-updating from balances, what-if on saving amount / date – will be a separate tracking-style Goals feature. It's planned, but will come after the budgets

        This particular ticket can cover the ‘wealth/asset tracking goal’ that I described in the ticket description and comments. Good to know that this will come after the budget feature enhancement. 👍

    It would be helpful if you could add a simple dashboard widget to view the progress of our goals with percentage.
