Track who user spent money with as a first-class concept.
When possible, transaction will be linked to a Payee (e.g. "McDonald's", "Amazon", "Uber") extracted automatically from user’s connected banks, or selected via typeahead on manual entry. Payees give us:
Faster manual entry – start typing "McD…", pick the payee, and the category auto-fills based on user history (or a default you set).
Per-merchant spending reports – see exactly how much user have spent at a given merchant over any timeframe.
Cleaner data – duplicate variants ("McDonalds" vs "McDONALDS #4521") get merged into a single canonical payee user can rename.
Comes with auto-categorization that requires no AI – set "Amazon → Shopping" once, and every Amazon transaction lands in Shopping automatically.
Related: a separate "Fuzzy description matching" feature will extend this to bank transactions where the merchant name isn't cleanly provided.
