Reflect the account balance in the data import

Feature Request

When importing data from CSV or Walletapp, with data already in MoneyMatter, it doesn't reflect the balance in the accounts; that is, it doesn't subtract or add those transactions. This would be quite useful since I manually import data from the bank each week to track expenses (I should clarify that I don't have automatic bank data import).

    Hmm well at some point it was disabled on purpose, but I don't remember exactly why :D Probably because on the first import calculating the balance from transactions list will almost always lead into the wrong balance at the end, cause usually the data being uploaded is not that "old" to reflect older balance changes.


    But indeed sounds logical to have this functionality for "next" uploads, especially for your case.


    I think I'll add an optional flag to control this behavior, which ofc will remember your choice, so next imports will recalculate the balance.

      Perhaps a checkbox could be added to select whether or not to update the balance.


      Another problem I have is that, since the number of entries is limited, I'm gradually adding previous years. In this case, it would be necessary to prevent the balance from being updated.

        I did test it with mocked data, but your use-case with specific data should be much more accurate. Since it’s a preview environment, as usual, you can only use email+password or demo mode 🙂

        There’s a checkbox (at the bottom) on the columns mapping state that will force account’s balance to be updated based on new transactions that are older than the latest existing one

          Well, I ran several tests and it seems to be working fine. I made several transactions across multiple accounts and didn't find any inconsistencies.

          However, I'm going to open another post because importing data from MoneyMatter to MoneyMatter isn't possible with the exported files. This would have made managing this test much easier.

            Yeah I thought about it, yet it feels strange to have such a “feature” 😅 I’ll try to take a look into supporting Google login for preview environments – should be much more convenient

              I don't find it strange, for example, I'm using it in Google, but one of the things that made me switch apps is Selfhost, so when I want to move my data, I'm going to be in trouble.
